Welcome to South Algonquin
The site offers you a brief history of the former townships, of Airy, Dickens, Lyell, Murchison and Sabine prior to amalgamation.
The Township, is located adjacent to the southeast corner of Algonquin Provincial Park and offers you an abundance of four season wilderness experiences with its numerous lakes, rivers, streams and thousands of acres of crown land waiting to be explored.
This area is well known for its hundreds of kilometers of recreational trails, that offers snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and dogsledding during the winter months. Throughout the rest of the season we offer hiking, ATVing, canoeing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, camping, hunting and fishing. The fishing is great all year round, especially trout fishing. We have excellent small and large mouth bass fishing during their open season. Walleye and pike, having been introduced to the area in the last ten years, offer large trophies for the fishing enthusiast.
The residents of South Algonquin would like to extend a warm welcome to all its visitors, whether you come for a day, a week or a lifetime, the township will leave you with many treasured memories that will last a lifetime.
